Some Studio Tour Photos

Well here it is all cleaned up and hung for the mid October Ojai Studio Artist's Tour. I always forget to photograph things when they are looking spiffy and so made a note this year to do it. I had planned to take some during the event, but somehow I am either the one engaged in a conversation or photographing peoples backsides as they look at the wall. Didn't seem to make for very good shots.

Getting Ready for The Studio Tour

I'm working on a few last minute paintings for this year's upcoming Ojai Studio Artist's Tour. My studio will be featured among others on a new Concierge Tour Option. Last I heard they were sold out Saturday but there may still be availability for Sunday. Ojai Museum Piece

Going back a few posts I mentioned I had to do a piece for this years Ojai Studio Artist's show at the Ojai Museum. I chose (instead of doing something on the #10) to take a work from 10 years ago and update it (instead of the other option of working with the #10 as a theme). As promised here it is.... 12"x12" oil on board with gold leaf from 2002
I decided after picking the image from 10 years ago not to look at it again. I then did above sketch for new painting.
And the finished new piece. You can see I did change a things a bit as I started painting, but unfortunately I like the one from 2002 better. I hope that doesn't mean I 'peaked' 10 years ago. Now that I look at them together I can see what is is that I like better about the first one, but I won't nitpick. I know too well from experience that my own opinion doesn't always count.

Ojai Studio Artists Tour October 8th and 9th 2011

Hey All, if you haven't already seen some of these little videos that local Christ Ritke has been doing on the Ojai Studio Artists here is a montage. (I'm in here somewhere and if you go to the YouTube site there are links to lots more of the full video interviews) they are all short and sweet. Studio Interview by Chris Ritke

A video shot by Ojai resident Chris Ritke. Chris has been making the rounds among the Ojai Artists doing videos of each of them. You never see him. He's the one asking the tricky questions I have to try and sound halfway intelligent answering. (God I hate talking about my work!) Anyhow I seem to get off to a rough start and then settle in a bit. New Recession Buster Paintings

Some new mini 'Recession Buster paintings for the upcoming Ojai Studio Artist's Tour. These are actually even a bit smaller that those previous (mostly 3x4 inches or so), and between $100-200. .......I tried not to spend too long on them but that never seems to work for me.

These (the top one for sure) are two pieces of my most recent work that will be in the show. It should be fun to see what Michele Pracy the new museum director chose. Usually each artist brings a piece. For the first time the museum itself will have curated the whole thing. (And that was a lot of studio visits on Michele's part).
